Why You Feel Like You Should Be Healed By Now
The other day someone asked me, “Are you healed?”
And I remember pausing for a second… because I didn’t even know how to answer that.
Healed… how?
Does that mean I’m over the loss of my brother?
Does it mean I don’t feel it anymore?
Does it mean my story is complete?
Because none of that felt true.
And that moment stayed with me.
Not just because of the question…but because of what was underneath it.
The expectation.
At some point, after loss… after grief… after your life changes in a way you didn’t choose…there’s this pressure…
That sounds like:
You should be okay by now.
You should be moved on.
You should be further along.
You should be healed!
And a lot of that doesn’t just come from within…
It comes from what we hear on the outside.
What other people say.
What we’ve been taught healing is “supposed” to look like.
And over time… You start putting that pressure on yourself.
But I don’t think healing works the way we’ve been taught!
I think there’s a difference between being healed… and being in the process of healing.
I go deeper into this in the video below… including where that pressure really comes from and how to start relating to it differently.
